Dinner marks Legion anniversary

American Legion Post 74 and Auxiliary are planning a joint dinner for March 15 at Coppertown Bar and Grill, the former Crivellos at 818 Main St., Oconto. March 15 marks the anniversary of the 1919 American Expeditionary Force caucus convention in Paris that led to the Congressional Charter founding the American Legion. The Oconto Post and Auxiliary plans to muster at 3 p.m. on that Saturday for social time; a broasted chicken dinner buffet is scheduled for 4 p.m. Entertainment for the early evening is a planned performance by The Sapphires, and the event is expected to conclude around 6 p.m. Post 74 and Auxiliary Members are eligible to purchase tickets for the event at a subsidized cost of $10 per person for themselves and a guest. The price includes two drink tickets for most any common item from the event bar. While they may purchase a ticket for one guest, sales for the event are limited to members in good standing of Post 74 and the Post 74 Auxiliary. Tickets will be available at the March 6 Auxiliary meeting. To pay by mail, make the check payable to American Legion Post 74 and mail by Feb. 28 to P.O. Box 533, Oconto, WI, 54153-0533. All tickets and drink tickets are to be picked up as will call at the event. For information, members may contact the Auxiliary President Pat Sherman at 920-419-7364. Without prior reservation, tickets may be purchased at the door for $30 per person.
