Hawks hockey team wins in OT

Feb. 6 Shawano/Bonduel 4, Appleton United 3 (OT) A pair of goals by Appleton North late in the third period forced overtime, but Shawano/Bonduel pulled out the win with a goal by Blake Knope in the second OT frame. Cameron Schroeder assisted on the game-winning shot. The Hawks’ scoring began at 7:10 in the first period on an even strength goal by Blake Swedberg. Appleton United tied the game before the period ended. Shawano/Bonduel recaptured the lead on a Gavin Hundt goal 31 seconds into the second period. Max Huntington scored at 5:48, with assists from Kielan Armbruster and Wyatt Schroeder, to give the Hawks a 3-1 lead. Appleton United scored in the third period, first at 15:34 and again at 16:31, to tie the game at 3-3. There was no scoring in the first overtime period, with Knope’s game-winning goal coming at 7:09 in the second OT period. Shawano/Bonduel at 28 shots on goal. Appleton United had 37 with Kaiden Thornborrow tallying 34 saves. Appleton United only had one penalty called for two minutes. The Hawks had five infractions for 10 minutes.
