Residents are reminded they still have time to filed nomination papers for local offices that will be decided in the April 1, 2025, election.
In Shawano County towns, there are elections for chairpersons, supervisors, clerks and treasurers.
Village positions on the ballot include presidents and trustees, as well as the clerk and treasurer in Eland.
In the city of Shawano, there will be elections for three alderpersons. Incumbents are Brad Keuschel in District 1, Kevin Barkow in District 3 and Sandy Steinke in District 5. Steinke has announced she will not seek another term.
Local school boards also will have elections for some members. Depending on the district, some positions represent a particular geographic area while others are at-large seats. Districts include the Unified School District of Antigo, Bonduel, Bowler, Clintonville, Gillett, Gresham, Marion, Menominee Indian, Pulaski, Seymour, Shawano, Tigerton and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
Sanitary districts for Cloverleaf Lakes, Richmond and Shawano Lake area also seeking candidates for commissioner posts.
Candidates have until 5 p.m. Jan. 7 to fill their necessary paperwork. Interested residents should contact their local municipal or school district clerk for specific information.
Statewide, there will also be an election for the state superintendent of public instruction, currently held by Jill Underly, and a justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, a position currently held by Ann Walsh Bradley.
An appellate judgeship for the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, currently held by Lisa Stark, will also be on the ballot.
If a primary election is needed, it will be held Feb. 18.
