Newcap grant to be used for revolving loan program

An Oconto-based company will kick off a new loan program from funds received from a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant. A $323,263 Household Water and Well System grant will be used by Newcap Inc. to establish a revolving loan program for homeowners in Florence, Forest, Langlade, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Oneida, Shawano and Vilas counties, including six tribal nations. “These projects are just a few of many examples of how the Rural Partners Network has helped strengthen community ties so underserved rural communities and families in Wisconsin can access the resources they need now and into the future,” said Julie Lassa, Rural Development Wisconsin state director. “These projects will help keep rural and tribal communities in Wisconsin thriving for generations to come.” Nationally, USDA awarded more than $194 million in grants and loans to support 118 projects that will help rural and tribal communities address immediate needs and create sustainable economic growth. Many of these projects are the direct result of collaboration between community networks and federal staff living and working in the communities.
