Gresham 36, Gillett 30
Gresham’s new basketball season jumped off to a good start with a 36-30 home win over Gillett.
Gillett led 16-13 at the half, but Gresham had a strong second half to pull away with the win.
Gresham was led Kobe Miller with 15 points and Thomas Kaquatosh with 10.
Leading the Tigers was Jed Herzog with 13 points..
Wittenberg-Birnamwood 67, Menominee Nation 56
The Chargers opened their 2024-25 season with a 67-56 home win over the Eagles.
“I felt our boys played with great effort and together throughout the contest,” Wittenberg-Birnamwood coach Garrett Rogowski said. “Being the first game, we definitely have some takeaways that we can improve upon, but overall very proud of the job they did in both halves.”
Jett Rogowski led the Chargers with 30 points, including a pair of 3-point plays and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line. Zandyr Barke scored 15 points.
Kenew Awonohopay led Menominee Nation with 16 points, and King Lyons scored 15. Lyons was also 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
