Pathways photo contest winners announced

Top winners of the Shawano Pathways Trails Photography Contest were announced at Pathways’ annual Social and Report to the Community, held Nov. 12 at Twig’s Beverage Museum. JoRene Gorshe, after an evening outing with the Shawano Paddlers, captured a tranquil moment as the Wolf River reflected a rising moon for her first-place photo. Isaac Curran took second place with a photo aptly named “Squirrels in the Park,” a landscape featuring bright red foliage balanced against an autumnal sky. Last year, another entry by Curran earned first place. Third-place winner Diane Williamson walks the Mountain Bay Trail nearly every day and enjoys capturing seasonal changes from the same spot on her hike. Last year, she placed with another winter scene on the trail. The contest was open to amateur photographers whose 2024 photos were judged based on two measures: technical composition and promotion of a route or trail for biking, walking or paddling within Shawano County. Winners took home cash prizes and framed prints of their respective photographs.
