John R. Larson

John R. Larson, 95, of Beloit, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at Oak Park Place in Janesville. He was born on Jan. 24, 1929, in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of John and Mabel (Truckey) Larson. John was a 1947 Oconto Falls High School graduate. He was a veteran of the Wisconsin National Guard. John married Janice McKay on July 19, 1969, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Stiles. She predeceased him on May 25, 2020. John enjoyed photography and became a professional photographer. He was an airplane enthusiast and owned his own and many model airplanes. John also enjoyed building electronics from kits. Survivors include his son, John Larson, of Kenosha; brother-in-law, Lawrence (Janet) McKay, of Green Bay; sisters-in-law, Carla (Darwin) Grover, of Beloit, and Sandy McKay, of Monroe; first cousins, Gary Truckey, of Stiles, Warren Murphy, Tom Truckey and Tom Benedum, all of Green Bay; and numerous other first cousins; goddaughter and cousin, Donna Truckey, of Green Bay. John was predeceased by his parents and wife, Janice. A visitation of remembrance for John will be held from 4-7 p.m. with a rosary and eulogy to follow on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, in the Daley Murphy Wisch and Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 5246 St. Patrick’s Road, Lena, with Pastor John L. Larson officiating. A visitation will also be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Service, 107 S. Franklin St., Oconto Falls. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lena.
