Bowler 3, Tigerton 0
Bowler hosted CWC North rival Tigerton in volleyball and won in three straight sets. Scores were 26-24, 25-21, 25-20.
“The two teams were very closely matched, but we couldn’t finish what we started,” Tigerton coach Holly Meverden said. “The second round of conference games are starting next week, and we will have to work very hard to beat the teams we lost to in the first round.”
For Tigerton, Sienna Breaker led with 18 digs, followed by Jade Selle’s 14. Angel Welch and Aaliyah Lederhaus had 11 digs each, Lillian Welch had nine and Danika Tiller had eight.
Tiller led the Tigers with 10 assists.
Presley Stewart-Rolfs had eight kills and two block kills.
Lederhaus scored nine points with four aces, and Breaker and Tiller each had eight points with two aces.
Gresham 3, Marion 0
Gresham won 3-0 at home by scores of 25-12, 25-16, 25-19.
Lexi Baddmoccosin-Barnes led Gresham with 15 assists. Janay Pecore-Kirkland had 12 kills. Rylie Kakwitch had nine digs and seven kills, and Emily Jensen also had nine digs.
Kiara Cornelius scored 13 service points, and Cami Gourley had 11.
Gresham improved to 4-1 CWC North Conference play and 6-4 overall.
Coleman 3, Lena 1
Lena lost the first game against Coleman, came back to win the second but then dropped the next two in a 3-1 match.
After a somewhat lopsided first game loss, the final three games were all very close, with only two points separating the teams in the fourth game.
Scores were 25-13, 19-25, 25-19, 25-23.
Team leaders for Lena were Peyton Dorow with 12 spike kills and two service aces. Kaelyn Cook had 16 assists.
Laila Collar and Eva Brooks each had two digs, and Brooks tallied four block kills.
Niagara 3, Suring 2
Suring won the first two games against Niagara but then lost a heartbreaking three as they were defeated 3-2.
A 25-18 first game win was followed by a closer 25-22 victory for the Eagles.
Niagara squeaked by in the third game 26-24 and won the fourth 25-20 to set up the deciding fifth game. That came down to the wire, as Niagara won 15-13.
