Shawano 3, Seymour 0
It was a big time Bay Conference battle when Seymour visited Shawano.
The teams were scoreless through the first 60 minutes when Shawano senior Erik Ainsworth stepped up to make a play that was all heart and broke the 0-0 clash. Ainsworth delivered an assist to Ruben De Gaspari, who finished it for the first goal of the contest.
About 10 minutes later, Shawano delivered with two more goals within moments of each other.
The first goal was by junior midfielder Anderson Schmidt, and the second was by junior defender Kody Popelka. The latter was assisted by sophomore Grayson Swedberg.
Shawano goalie Ryan Buerman and the stout Shawano defense notched their second shutout of conference play and their fourth overall.
The Hawks improved to 2-0 in conference play and 6-2-1 overall.
Bay Port 1, Pulaski 0
The Red Raiders fell 1-0 to the Pirates in the opening game of Fox River Classic Conference conference play for both teams, this one at Bay Port.
Nathan DeMay broke the deadlock for Bay Port (5-1-1, 1-0) in the 44th minute, which turned out to be the game winner.
Josh Roth made one save in goal for Pulaski (7-1-2, 0-1). Ethan Olson got the shutout in goal for Bay Port.
