Fatal crash on Highway 32 in Mountain

One person was killed and three injured when two sport utility vehicles collided head-on Sept. 8 in the Town of Mountain. Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban said the accident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on state Highway 32 near Sparky’s Lane. The preliminary investigation indicated an SUV driven by a 15-year-old girl from Lake Tomahawk was northbound on the highway when a southbound vehicle crossed the center line and the vehicles collided, Skarban said. The driver and a 54-year-old male passenger were transported to area hospitals, but another passenger, a 51-year-old woman, died at the scene. The driver of the southbound car, a 30-year-old Fond du Lac man, was also hospitalized. No other information was immediately released and the sheriff’s office continues to investigate along with the State Patrol and Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office. The sheriff’s department was also assisted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Town of Mountain Fire Department, the Town of Riverview Fire Department, Mountain Area Ambulance Service, Lifelink III, and the Oconto County Highway Department, Skarban said.
