Shawano County set to name new zoning administrator

The Shawano County Planning, Development and Zoning Committee was expected to approve the hiring of a new county zoning administrator when it met Sept. 4. On the agenda was the discussion and possible approval of a resolution to appoint Kimberly Gierach to the post. The previous zoning administrator, Jessica Van Buren, is still listed on the county website as the real property lister, a position she held while also serving as zoning administrator. In July, the committee held a closed session to discuss personnel issues in the department. On a motion by Supervisor Ken Capelle and a second by Supervisor Lowel Hammett, it was decided to have the human resources department carry out the plan of action as discussed and agreed upon during closed session. Julie Hasser, human resources director, did not elaborate. Within weeks, Jim Davel, county coordinator, informed the committee the county had two applicants, and interviews would be held in the second week of August. Gierach was previously the zoning administrator in the Town of Ledgeview in Brown County, a position she started in December. According to her LinkedIn profile, she previously worked at deputy city clerk in Rochester, Minnesota; a lodging programs supervisor for the Washington State Department of Health; a code enforcement officer in Olympia, Washington, Wauwatosa and Milwaukee; and other positions in Wisconsin and Minnesota. She earned her bachelor of science degree in construction management and housing technology in 2004. She received a graduate certificate in public health core concepts from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. kpasson@newmedia-wi.com
