Shawano tennis team roughed up at Preble Invite

Green Bay Preble Invite Aug. 22-23 Shawano tennis wrapped up a big week in Green Bay with the Preble Invite on Aug. 22-23. Rachael Carroll led the Hawks at No. 2 singles with a 4-0 performance for the two-day tournament. The tennis players played competitive matches but were unable to come up with the team win. Manitowoc Lincoln 5, Shawano 2 Carroll won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Laney Rich won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Ireland Setterman lost at No. 1 singles, while Hadley Rettke lost at No. 3 singles. Falling at No. 1 doubles were Claire Weiland and Olivia Dobratz, with Madison Miller and Lana Owens losing at No. 2, and Abriella Mahkimetas-Kurkiewicz and Ava Hoffman dropping the No. 3 contest. Bay Port 6, Shawano 1 Carroll won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles. Ashwaubenon 6, Shawano 1 It was Carroll again on the winning end, defeating Kate Hanamann 6-0, 6-3. Jaelyn Hietpas played at No. 4 singles and lost 6-3, 6-0. Hoffman teamed up with Harper Rettke at No. 3 singles, losing 6-0, 6-4. Green Bay Preble 4, Shawano 3 The Hawks won at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Carroll shut out Isabella Heil 6-0, 6-0. Hadley Rettke won at No. 3 by scores of 7-5, 6-4, while Hietpas won 6-0, 6-3.
