WBSD sets goals for next school year

With the 2024-2025 school year fast approaching, I am excited to share our vision, goals and work that is taking place at the Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District. Our district vision is to prepare every student to excel and achieve at their maximum potential based on their individual talents and interests. Students have different interests and talents. Our charge is to provide them with a myriad of experiences and opportunities that help foster these gifts. Our district goals are: • We will ensure measurable growth for each individual student in the area of math fact fluency by making a scheduled commitment to analyze assessment results, review instructional strategies and communicate results with targeted practice strategies to parents. • We will place a concerted emphasis on test preparation strategy instruction third through 11th grade, with the goal of better preparing students for increased assessment outcomes. This will be measured by cohort Forward, Pre-ACT and ACT performance. • We will focus on Academic Career Planning ninth through 12th grade by engaging in daily ACP curriculum. • We will foster a community of culturally responsive awareness by engaging with local resources and representatives throughout the school year. • We will improve student attendance through concerted efforts districtwide to decrease our chronic absenteeism rate. • We will transition to the Act 20 requirements, with the implementation of a new districtwide assessment, as well as provide staff with related professional development. Simply put, learning takes place in many forms and is best done in safe, welcoming and engaging conditions. We will commit to serving our students’ individual needs so that they can achieve success within our vision. With all of our goals, we will provide transparency with updates as to their status and attainment throughout the school year. These goals are determined to reflect many of our current needs and priorities within the district, as well as address identified areas of necessary growth and improved outcomes. All of our students deserve the best and we will persist to make sure that exists within their school experience here at Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
