Extended fall absentee voting hours OK’d

The Oconto Falls City Clerk’s Office has been granted permission to extend its office hours during the run-up to the Nov. 5 election to accommodate voters who want to submit an in-person absentee ballot. Deputy Clerk Jenny Friedman asked the city council July 9 for the OK to keep the office open until 6 p.m. in an effort to put the city on somewhat more equal footing with bigger municipalities that have enough staff for much longer hours. “This would give us a little bit more of a window for citizens,” Friedman said. Normally the office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The City Council approved Friedman’s request to keep the doors open until 6 p.m. from Oct. 22 through Nov. 2. wbluhm@newmedia-wi.com
