Sacred Heart Catholic School is celebrating its 135th anniversary with its first celebration dance and fundraiser May 17.
The event will take place from 6-10 p.m. in the gymnasium and lobby of the school, 124 E. Center St., Shawano.
“This new event is an opportunity for our Sacred Heart community to unite as one with the greater community to offer financial and prayerful support to Sacred Heart Catholic School as the only Catholic school in all of Shawano County for 135 years,” said Autumne Gee, Sacred Heart admissions and development director. “This event is one way that we can ensure our school is around for many generations to come.”
The event will include a taco bar for $5 per person, a bake sale and a DJ service by Sammer the Jammer with music for all generations. There will be dozens of raffle baskets and items donated by businesses and school families and staff that include a 2023 signed Green Bay Packers football, camping basket, road trip basket, large garden cross, large cross bird feeder by Crossroads Custom Cabinetry and an autographed book bundle by the Rev. Edward Looney.
The event includes some additional fun with Chuck a Duck at 6:30 p.m., a chance to throw pies at Looney and school principal Gary Cumberland from 7-7:30 p.m., a free photo prop area and a special raffle drawing for those who offer a goodwill donation upon entry. The bucket raffle closes at 8:30 p.m. with winners drawn at 8:45 p.m.
