Our sister, Marie Constance Hagen, joined our loved ones in Heaven on Sunday, March 29, 2015. She was born in Shawano on Christmas Day 1958 to Bertrand and Helen (Nelessen) Hagen.
Marie lived a long life with the challenges of Downs Syndrome. For 27 years, Marie was under the tender loving care of Dorothy and Edward Hahn, of Waupaca. Dorothy is truly an angel sent by God to do His most loving work. Words cannot express the gratitude of our family toward her and her family for the never-ending patience and devotion in nurturing our sister.
Also, to the staff at Clarity Care in New London, where Marie lived her last five years, we would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for their part in ensuring Marie’s comfort, protection and well-being.
Last but not least, the hospital and hospice staff of New London. May God richly bless all of you.
Marie is survived by her siblings, Lyle (Rose) Hagen, Phil and Kathy Hagen, Elaine and Kurt Schroeder, Rita and Glen Rancier, Rose Hagen, Clara Duebler, Greg and Phyl Peters, Mike and Jane Velie, George (Sandra) Hagen, and Mark and Alicia Hagen. Marie is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews, 14 great-nieces and great-nephews, and her foster parents, Edward and Dorothy Hahn, and their family, of Waupaca.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Helen Hagen, and one niece, Erin Schroeder.
A funeral Mass for Marie will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano. The Rev. Luke Ferris will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, town of How, Oconto County. Relatives and friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of Mass.
