Marcel Reopelle

Marcel Reopelle, 88, of Gresham, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, in Shawano. Marcel was born on May 23, 1926, in Terrebonne, Minnesota, son of the late Ildage and Alma (Fournier) Reopelle. On Sept. 30, 1950, Marcel was united in marriage to Phyllis Ferg at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham. Marcel and Phyllis owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Herman for many years and they raised five children. Marcel was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, where he served on the church council and the building committee. He also served on the Gresham Village Board, Herman Town Board, Shawano County Board, Gresham Co-op Board, Gresham Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus in Shawano and the Shawano County Farm Bureau. Marcel is survived by his wife, Phyllis; their five children, Edward (Lynn) Reopelle, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Sandra Hohensee, of Shawano, Pamela (Jay) Achten, of De Pere, Brian (Melonie) Reopelle, of Gresham, and Jon (Diane) Reopelle, of Appleton; 10 grandchildren, Laura Widman, Nicole Yeager, Melissa Meyer, Michael Reopelle, David Hohensee, Amanda Sinicki, Brock Reopelle, Sara Achten, BoMorris Reopelle and Boone Reopelle; six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jackson, Olivia, McKenna, Madix and Monroe. He is further survived by his brothers, Vern (Idabelle) Reopelle, of Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, Clare Bruggeman, of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and Andrew (Pat) Reopelle, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Rene and Robert; one sister, Theresa Tischart; and a son-in-law, Ronald Hohensee. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham with the Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem, officiating. Burial will be in St Francis Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham, with Knights of Columbus Rosary conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday and visitation again on Monday from 10-11:30 a.m. at the church. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
