Magician and hypnotist Ron Lindberg, known as Rondini, kept a standing room only crowd engaged Saturday evening as the Shawano County Fairgrounds was doused with rain.
“This is 100 percent real. There is no trickery involved,” Lindberg told the audience.
The magician, who was making his first appearance at the Shawano County Fair, said he does not interact with anyone from the audience during show preparations and that hypnosis does not promote illegal activity.
“It is not that kind of show. I can’t make you do anything illegal out in Shawano,” Lindberg said.
One of the 13 volunteers was hypnotized into believing he was Elvis Presley.
The show gave some members of the audience a new appreciation of hypnosis.
Carson Graf, 16, walked away with a fuzzy recollection of the events that unfolded. He went with his friend Rory Sarenich just because they were curious.
“It is something new, and I did not believe it at first,” Graf said. “It is weird. I don’t even know what to make of it. I wanted to do it, and then my friend wanted to do it, so why not?”
“I heard some stories and it looked pretty fun, so might as well do it,” Sarenich said.
Lindberg performed magic for the younger crowd after the hypnosis show.
Lindberg said he did his first magic show in 1977 and picked up hypnosis 12 years ago.
“I have always been interested in magic and performing and am very interested in psychology in high school and college, so that is what turned me on to hypnosis,” Lindberg said.
Lindberg has presented his show in locations as far away as Tampa, Florida. He will look to add more to his tour schedule when his daughter graduates high school in two years.
