Lois E. Kruse, 89, of Shawano, died on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, in Shawano.
Lois was born on Nov. 18, 1925, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Edward Frank “E.F.” and Seraphina (Krubsack) Hartman.
Lois attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Shawano High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Oshkosh State College, now known as UW-Oshkosh. She began her teaching career in Appleton teaching third grade at Columbus Elementary School. In 1952 Lois left Appleton to take a first-grade teaching position in Clintonville, where she taught for 37 years until retiring in 1989.
On Aug. 31, 1957, Lois was united in marriage to Lawrence “Bronc” Kruse. Bronc preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 2002.
Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. She loved animals and enjoyed sending cards in the mail, for her church, as well as personally to friends and relatives.
Lois is survived by her sister, Anita Hartman, of Shawano, as well as cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bronc, her parents, and a brother, Glenn “Sam” Hartman.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Dennis Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. A reception, in memory of Lois, will be held at Angie’s Café on Main Street in Shawano after the service on Saturday.
