Megan Suehring, Shawano County 4-H positive youth development educator, recently completed the 2024-25 term as president of the Wisconsin Association of Educators & 4-H Youth Development Professionals.
She received the president’s plaque during the banquet of the Joint Council for Extension Professionals. During the WAE4HYDP business meeting, Suehring assumed the past president role for 2025-26.
The mission of WAE4HYDP is to promote, strengthen and advocate the Extension 4-H youth development profession while providing a safe forum, camaraderie, support and recognition of its members. WAE4HYDP currently has a roster of 90 county, regional and statewide 4-H and youth development professionals.
Suehring has been in the 4-H educator position for Shawano County Division of Extension for seven years. Previous 4-H posts included serving in Price and Marathon counties. Shawano County 4-H boasts 19 community clubs, two after-school programs and many other opportunities for youths in kindergarten through the year after high school to engage in non-formal education.
4-H youths can take part in clubs, camps, educational travel experiences, workshops and much more, as they explore their sparks. In all of these settings, youths have the chance to become leaders.
