Leonard M. Wendler, 82, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, July 24, 2025. He was born Dec. 24, 1942, in Wittenberg, son of the late Milton and Esther (Schwartzkopf) Wendler.
Leonard attended Bowler High School. He married Jean Sartorius on July 27, 1963. Leonard was employed at the Neenah Foundry for 39½ years until his retirement in 2009.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting firewood and spending time at the family cottage in Lake Tomahawk. Leonard was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; four sons, Leonard (Phyllis) Wendler, Bruce (Paula) Wendler, Ramond Wendler and Duane “Dewey” Wendler; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren: two brothers, Kenneth Wendler and Dennis (Pam) Wendler; and four sisters, Ilene (Jerry) Bohlman, Beverly Radune, Violet (Chuck) Peterson and Alice (Frank) Bohlman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by two brothers, Milton and Don; and two sisters, Rose and Barbara.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah, with the Rev. Tony McKenzie officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Lake Tomahawk. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
