Lena’s girls basketball team splits games at Rhinelander invite

Nov 30 Lena 49, Three Lakes/Phelps 31 A second-half burst by Lena propelled them to a 49-31 victory over Three Lakes/Phelps at the two-day Tom Kislow Invite in Rhinelander. Madilyn Thomson led the Wildcats with 17 points, followed by Kali Fischer with 14 and Eva Brooks with 13. Brooks and Thomson each had nine rebounds, Thomson led with six assists, and Fischer grabbed six steals. Lena led 16-13 at the break and widened their lead with a 33-18 second half. Shawano 71, Clintonville 25 Nov. 29 Crandon 46, Lena 42 Eva Brooks dropped in 22 points, and Madilyn Thomson added 10, but Lena came up short in a 46-42 loss to Crandon at the Rhinelander invite. Crandon opened up a 22-16 halftime lead, and Lena’s two-point advantage (26-24) in the second half wasn’t enough as they had their only loss of the season. Brooks paced the Wildcats with 13 rebounds, Hannah Thomson led with four assists, and Madilyn Thomson and Kali Fischer each had a pair of steals.
