The second annual Village of Lights will be held from 3:30-7 p.m. Sunday Nov. 29, in Lena.
Local businesses have been decorating storefronts in preparation for event. Chairperson Linda Earley Hinds coordinated the promotion to help the local businesses and the village. School clubs and local churches also have stepped up to help.
The event starts with a holiday movie and popcorn at the Lena Public Library. From there, people can stop at the Village Hall to see Santa.
Children can get their wish list to Santa by stopping at Lena Lanes to write a letter and take part in a family bowling special. They can decorate cookies at the Wooden Shoe. Local businesses have giveaways such as coffee, cookies, hot dogs, candy, hot cider, “cow pies,” cheese and more.
Christmas wreaths and poinsettias, sponsored by the Lena FFA, will also be available to purchase at the school cafeteria. Kids can have balloon animals made, courtesy of the student council.
Individuals 18 and older can participate in a Village of Lights game card for a chance to win gift cards and gift certificates by getting their cards punched at participating businesses. Children will have a chance to win a stocking filled with gifts.
A live Nativity scene at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church will help bring the meaning of Christmas to all.
