John W. Hawpetoss

John Wayne Hawpetoss, 59, of Neopit, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in Shawano. Born on March 7, 1955, in Keshena, he was the son of the late Samuel and Frances (Matchapatow) Hawpetoss Sr. John was an iron worker and member of the Local 380, Champagne, Ill. When not at work, John enjoyed hunting, fishing, traditional crafting and bead work, and loved being in the woods. He also loved spending time with his children and beloved grandchildren. John was an avid Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. John is survived by special friend, Leah Besaw; three children, Jennifer Zilinski-Dean, of Ohio, Phillip Andrew Hawpetoss, of Springfield, Ill., and Madeline Louise Hawpetoss, of Springfield, Ill.; former wife and mother of his children, Debbie Anderson-Hawpetoss; five grandchildren, Destiny, Hayley, Jayden and Zoey, Jordan; and four siblings, Jerry Hawpetoss, of Neopit, Rebecca Hawpetoss, of Keshena, Judy (Pete Shawanokasic) Hawpetoss, of Keshena, and Sam “Lam” Hawpetoss Jr., of Keshena. John was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Nina, Glenn and Dale. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Hawpetoss residence located at N3639 Third St,, Neopit, with the Rev. Dave Barrett officiating. Visitation will be held at the residence from noon Thursday until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Woods Cemetery, West Branch.
