Witt-Birn girls beat Oconto

Feb. 10 Wittenberg-Birnamwood 59, Oconto 34 Witt-Birn played the way they needed to against Oconto, winning 59-34 in the first of three scheduled games in the week. “Our defense played well to extend our lead, and that allowed our girls some rest heading into (the next) game against Amherst,” coach Nick Mechelke said. The Chargers were led by Melaina Granquist’s 18 points and Rory Salvesen’s 17. Granquist also led with eight rebounds, while Salvesen had four steals. Salvesen, Harper Rogowski and Brie Ladika each had one assist. Northland Lutheran 48, Bowler 22 Bowler didn’t have a player score in double digits in its 22-point losing output against Northland Lutheran. The Panthers lost 48-22.
