Things keep popping as softball season winds down

A lot has happened while I spent the past few weeks going to softball games. There are only three more regular-season games left, and I will have to start thinking about what comes next. Meanwhile, when the Gresham High School softball team traveled to Tigerton to take on the Tigers, their coach walked over to the stands where I was sitting. She was carrying my bleacher seat. She asked if one of the people in the stands was Leah Lehman. She explained that her grandmother had read that I left the seat at Gresham. What a wonderful surprise that was. Not only do I have my seat back, so I can sit in more comfort than I could before, but it restores my faith in humanity that they would go through all the trouble of saving it and bringing it to the next game. Another wonderful thing that happened was my bathroom wall was fixed and a new shower installed. That has been something that has been bugging me since fall, and now it is better than ever. I am thankful that people know how to do such things, and it didn’t cost near as much as I expected. Sure, I had dust, and I had to shower in the guest bathroom for a few days, but those where minor bumps along the way. Bubble wrap seems to have been part of my life most recently. I was the speaker at a women’s gathering in April, and the Bible study leader used bubble wrap to remind us of prayer. We were encouraged to pop a bubble when we pray for those on our prayer list. It struck me as a good way to help us remember to pray for those on our list. Because, after all, who doesn’t like popping those bubbles. Then the other day I made a purchase and the object I bought was wrapped in bubble wrap. Normally I save those things, so that when I send something, I can reuse it to wrap breakable things. Well, that bubble wrap never got to the closet, instead I began to pop it; then I would put it down, but a bit later, I would pick it up and begin to pop it again. Needless to say, that sheet of bubble wrap is all popped out, with nary a one left to pop. Once in a while, I will pick it up to see if I can find one, but all to no avail. In fact, the plastic itself is beginning to fall apart, so now it is time for the garbage. As far as what comes next after the end of softball season, the main thing is my surgery. Now that the date is closer, I am making more phone calls and trying to get things figured out. Of course, a lot of it depends on how well I can handle myself without using my right foot. I am told it can be done, and so at the moment I am holding to that. Meanwhile, I do want to make a trip to southern Wisconsin to visit my aunt. I just have to find a couple days to accomplish that. In John 16:33, Jesus tells us, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
