Robert “Bob” P. Micoley, 85, Oconto Falls, died early Monday morning, Aug. 25, 2014, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 15, 1929, in Oconto County to Paul and Elsie (Compe) Micoley.
Bob grew up in rural Oconto Falls, where he attended Kelly Brook Elementary School and later graduated from Oconto Falls High School with the Class of 1946. As a young man, he entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea during the war until his honorable discharge.
On Oct. 3, 1953, he married Norene Anderson at Maple Valley Lutheran Church. Bob lived most of his life in the Oconto Falls area, where he farmed, was employed by Zippel Construction and drove school bus for the district. He was a member of Riverview Alliance Church in Oconto Falls and Oconto Falls American Legion Post No. 302.
Bob will be fondly remembered for the love he had for his family and the outdoors, especially for hunting, fishing and golfing, and for his great sense of humor.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Norene Micoley, Oconto Falls; their two children, Bruce (Debbie) Micoley, Suring, and Lynn (Steve) Selissen, Suamico; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Annette Peters, Milwaukee; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Charlotte Micoley, Green Bay, Edith Sellen, Lena, Dolores Sellen, Oconto Falls, John Wilson and Dale Mikkelson, both of Gillett; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Arlyn Micoley; three brothers-in-law, Harvey Peters, Clifford Sellen and Calvin Sellen; and two sisters-in-law, Ellen Wilson and Ethel Mikkelson.
Visitation will be held at Riverview Alliance Church in Oconto Falls after 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, until the time of service. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Kevin Kuhn officiating. Burial, with military honors, will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery, Spruce.
