Robert A. Calewarts

Robert A. “Bob” Calewarts, 86, Suamico, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 18, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born Sept. 10, 1928, to Harvey and Lucille (Roskom) Calewarts. On April 7, 1951, he married the former Joyce Vollmar at St. John the Baptist Church in Howard. Joyce preceded Bob in death on Jan. 5, 2013. After graduating from West High School, Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He then worked alongside his parents at Calewarts Meat Market, which he and Joyce later owned until 1977. Bob then pursued a successful career in real estate. Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was also a strong advocate for the environment, and one of his proudest achievements was the prevention of a landfill in Oconto County. Survivors include his children, Roberta (James) Oskey, Pittsfield, Michelle (Curtis) Destache, Pulaski, Roy (Judith) Calewarts, Abrams, and Glen (Sandy Hilber) Calewarts, Suamico; 14 grandchildren, Jesse, Jamie, Sam and Jenna, Nathan, Luke and Matthew, Jay, Adam, Tony and Melissa, and Kassy, Tanya and Aaron; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Calewarts. Friends called at SS. Edward and Isidore Church, 3667 Flintville Road, Suamico, from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral Mass was celebrated at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Dave Hoffman presiding, followed by military honors by the Pulaski Area Veterans. Burial took place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Howard. Marnocha Funeral Home served the Calewarts family.
