Richard J. “Riche” Salzmann, 60, of Shawano, died unexpectedly on Friday morning, May 23, 2014, at his home, and entered his eternal life. He was an earthly treasure to family and friends.
Riche was born May 29, 1953, in Shawano, a son of the late Roy and Elfiera (Eggert) Salzmann.
He will be dearly missed by his loving companion of 16 years, Deb Genke; his beautiful daughter, Heidi (Nathan) Jackson, of Green Bay; stepdaughters, Jamie (Brian) Jensen, of Portland, Ore., and Holly (Paul) Saari, of Oconto Falls; grandchildren, Sibayla and Makhai, of Portland, Ore., Lilly, of Oconto Falls, and his newest granddaughter, McKinley Rose, of Green Bay. He is further survived by his dedicated brother, John (Rose) Salzmann, of Mosinee; niece, Jennifer Salzmann, of Austin, Texas; and a nephew, Justin (Leah) Salzmann, of Kaukauna.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Riche enjoyed music at a young age, and it continued throughout his adult life. He was one of the founders of the band Horsethief, which entertained people for many years. Riche enjoyed times spent hunting, fishing, curling, camping, staying at the family cabin and traveling to Alaska. He had an incredible passion for cooking and entertaining. Riche was a selfless and gentle man who cared about others immensely. He could always be counted on to lend a hand or bring smiles and laughter. Above all, Riche especially cherished time spent with friends and family.
Funeral services for Riche Salzmann will be held on Thursday, May 29, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. The Rev. Ted Andrada will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano on Wednesday, May 28, from 4-8 p.m. and at St. James Lutheran Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorials in his name.
