Reading programs benefit parents as well as kids

To the editor: One of your best parenting partners is the Shawano City-County Library Children’s Department. An appreciation of reading will help your children excel in life, and the library offers helpful programs. The children’s department offers story times three days a week at 10 a.m., Baby and Me for babies up to 2 years of age on Tuesdays, and for all ages on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Story time is a great way to role model the importance of reading, and you will meet other thoughtful parents and grandparents who are also raising children to be readers. Your social network will grow, your children will make new friends, and you will get the satisfaction of knowing you are introducing a child to the wonders and benefits of reading. Happy New Year, and read on! Mary Winter, children’s library assistant, Shawano City-County Library
