Pulaski High School students will perform “Sister Act” for their annual musical.
Show dates are 7 p.m. Feb. 10 and Feb. 17, and 2 p.m. Feb. 11 and Feb. 18. Attendees can buy tickets for $9 at pulaskihs.ludus.com. All seats are reserved.
Set in the 1970s, the main character, Deloris, has witnessed a murder and the police have hidden her in a convent, as a nun, to keep her safe from her mob boyfriend, Curtis. Deloris proceeds to upend the quiet lives of the resident sisters. In an effort to keep her out of trouble, they assign Deloris to the convent’s choir, an ensemble that she soon turns into a vibrant act that gains widespread attention.
“Besides being entertaining and fun, Sister Act shows a beautiful story of people from different backgrounds forming relationships and working together. That message is so important for our world,” said director Amy Tubbs.
Music director Kathryn Brown said the students are excited to focus their energy into the musical in January and February following the holiday season.
“We have a great cast, crew and pit that are hard workers. Audience goers will really enjoy the music written by Alan Menken, who also wrote ‘Newsies,’ ‘The Little Mermaid,’ ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ and more. They will also love the incredible choreography, acting, scenery, pit and more.”
