Oconto Falls Invite
The Panthers placed third with a 4-1 record at their home invite.
Oconto Falls went 3-0 in pool play beating New London 25-15, 27-25, NEW Lutheran 25-22, 25-19 and Chilton 25-19, 25-14. In the Gold Bracket, Oconto Falls lost to tournament champion Freedom 23-25, 23-25 but beat NEW Lutheran 25-17, 17-25, 15-11.
“I am very proud of how the team came together and played at our home invite,” coach Rochell Otto said. “Players had different roles, and they accepted those roles and stepped up and played well.”
Against New London, Izzy Otto had nine assists and seven digs; Katelyn Kurek had six assists, Lucy Ripley had 10 kills and three aces; Rylie Shallow had 10 digs; and Hailyn St. Louis had four aces.
Against NEW Lutheran, Otto had 14 assists, five digs and two aces; Ripley had 15 kills and two aces; and St. Louis had four aces.
In the wins over Chilton, Otto had 14 assist and five digs’ Ripley had 10 kills and two aces; Rhiana VandeYacht had four kills; and Shallow had seven digs and two aces.
Facing off against Freedom, Otto had 16 assists, seven digs and three kills; Katelyn Kurek collected five assists; Ripley tallied 16 kills, eight digs and two aces; and Shallow had 13 digs.
Taking on NEW Lutheran a second time, Otto had 16 assists and five digs; Ripley had had 12 kills and five aces; VandeYacht garnered five kills; Shallow had six digs; and Lylia Leja had four digs.
For the entire tournament, Otto had 72 assists, 30 digs and nine kills; Ripley had 63 kills, 14 aces and 21 digs; VandeYacht had 15 kills; St. Louis had 12 aces; and Shallow 43 digs.

Tomahawk 3, Wittenberg-Birnamwood 2
Wittenberg-Birnamwood opened play against Tomahawk with a pair of wins but couldn’t pull together enough to get a third as Tomahawk won 3-2 on set scores of 23-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-9.
“We played great the first two sets. The timing between our hitters and setters was good and our defenders were picking everything up,” coach Becky Rew said. “Tomahawk cleaned some things up in the third set by missing fewer serves and were more accurate with their hits. This caused us to play with a little more hesitation and then we made more mistakes. Overall, it was a great match with the score going back and forth between both teams, but in the end, we just couldn’t finish that third set.”
Melaina Granquist had 19 serving attempts with four aces, as well as 35 hitting attempts with nine kills and six block kills.
Lily Metropulos had 37 hitting attempts with eight kills, 18 assists and 14 digs.
Charlie Eichman tallied 27 hitting attempts with seven kills. Kendyl Kessen collected 15 digs, and Makayla Meronk had 13 digs.
Shawano 3, Menasha 0
The Shawano Hawks swept Menasha on senior night. Shawano played with a couple different lineups before settling back into the normal routine in set three.
Shawano defeated Menasha 25-18, 25-16 and 25-14 on the night.
Shawano was led in kills by Leah Nordin with 11 and a .440 hitting percentage. Seniors Amelia Klement and Ella Stuber had an almost equivalent night running the offense with 13 and 12 assists apiece. Teagen Thompson had 10 digs in her defensive efforts.
“The seniors all played well given it was their last regular season home game,” coach Dan Trudgeon said. “The night was made extra special with senior Kyla Dove getting the match winning kill at the end of the night.”
