Aimee Elkins, Marinette and Oconto County 4-H youth development educator, UW-Extension, received the Achievement in Service Award from the Wisconsin Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals at its annual conference April 3 in Green Bay.
The award recognizes excellence in positive youth development programming contributions to the profession for educators in years 3-7 of their career, with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Division of Extension.
Elkins has served as the 4-H educator for Oconto and Marinette counties with UW-Madison, Division of Extension, since 2019. Her efforts to increase youth sparks have led to local and statewide collaborations. Her extensive involvement on the Wisconsin 4-H Program Quality Standing Committee and several subcommittees has contributed to her role as a presenter at conferences.
Elkins believes deeply in the power of 4-H positive youth development programs to inspire and equip youths for the future. Through programs such as camps, project learning opportunities and classroom clubs, she strives to provide youths with the tools to grow, explore their sparks and develop leadership skills.
She embraces the hands-on, “learn by doing” approach, which encourages collaboration with youths, volunteers and colleagues.
This award application will be forwarded to the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals for recognition at the national conference in October.
