Ashley Bergsbaken had to cut back on her 4-H projects at the Shawano County Fair this year. Bergsbaken, who will be a senior this fall at Bonduel High School, is showing “only” in the swine, visual arts, photography and home environment categories. Previously she also showed sheep and beef. “I love being at the fair,” she said. “I like to see people walking through the barns.

Supporters of a tribal casino in Kenosha began their campaign Tuesday to pressure Gov.

The Menominee Indian Tribe has offered to bring the Forest County Potawatomi in on a proposed Kenosha casino in hopes of getting the Potawatomi to support the project. Last week, the Bureau of Indian Management gave its approval of the Menominee application to build an entertainment center and casino at the former Dairyland Greyhound Park. The tribe must still win approval from Gov.

Howard L. Johnson, 90, was born Dec. 23, 1921, to Leonard and Mary (Krueger) Johnson and passed away May 13, 2012. Muriel D. Johnson, 84, was born April 8, 1923, to Harold and Viola (Ballheim) Muehl and passed away Feb. 29, 2008. They were married April 14, 1945.

Ruth Mae (Brown) Delzer, 90, Abrams, passed away Aug. 21, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Green Bay. Ruth was born July 30, 1923, at Waterford to the late Walter and Elsie Brown. Ruth graduated from Waterford High School, served in the Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service) during World War II and was stationed at Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Fla.

Lyle “Buck” Brazeau, 80, Gillett, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 20, 2013, at his residence. Lyle was born Oct. 10, 1932, to the late Samuel and Mary (Miller) Brazeau. On Dec. 13, 1952, Buck married his first wife, Elizabeth (Davis) Brazeau. She preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 2009. On Oct.

Richard G. Clayton Jr., 55, Suring, passed away at home on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013. Richard was born to Richard G. and Guerda A. (Husum) Clayton on Aug. 18, 1958. Richard is survived by his daughter, Joy (John) Darrow, of Green Bay; his son, Richard G.

Marilyn “Hazel” Baldwin, 73, of Cecil, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at the Jack and Engrid Meng Unity Hospice Residence, with her loving family at her side, after a valiant fight with leukemia. She was born Jan. 20, 1940, in California, Pa., to the late Dallas and Gertrude Martin. Hazel was raised in Grover and graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1958. She married Macklyn Baldwin Jan.

An end-of-summer party is planned in Suring when the village holds its 83rd annual Labor Day celebration from Aug. 30-Sept. 2. Event organizer Cindy Zahn said the celebration brings hundreds of people into the village. “It’s a lot of fun. It usually is an annual homecoming for people who used to live here,” she said. Many of the traditional events will return this year, including the demolition derby, fireworks show and Labor Day parade.
