Hawks close cross-country season at sectional

The Shawano Community High School boys and girls cross-country teams missed qualifying for state at Saturday’s WIAA Division 1 sectional at Standing Rock Park in Stevens Point. Teagan Monfils paced the Hawks girls, finishing 12th with a time of 15 minutes, 55.7 seconds. Monfils was 21 seconds behind Hortonville’s Claire Van Beek, who was the final individual state qualifier. Kristy Kurtz was 20th with a time of 16:37.70. As a team, the girls finished seventh with 163 points. Stevens Point (57) took first. The Hawks boys finished ninth, led by Jake Klister, who finished in 17:32.40 to come in 25th.
