Esther M. Engel, 95, of Bonduel passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Shawano.
Esther was born on Jan. 9, 1918, in the town of Waukechon to the late Adolph and Minnie (Toellner) Moede.
She was united in marriage to Edward Engel on Nov. 27, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1970.
After marriage they went to Dodge County and worked in factories. Later they bought a farm in the town of Hartland.
After Edward passed away, Esther moved to Bonduel. She worked for years at the pickle factory and did waitressing. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, making quilts and playing cards.
She belonged to Happy Hour Homemakers and a 500 card club. Esther enjoyed her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, a daughter, Janice (Frank) Buch, of Marion, and a son, Thomas (Sandy) Engel, of Bonduel; grandchildren, Faye Buch, Connie (Mark) Craig, Kevin (Christal) Buch, all of Manawa, Kurt Buch, Marion, Todd (Jenny, and daughter, Courtney) Engel, Shawano, Ryan (Deni) Engel, Cecil, Chad Engel (fiancée, Nikki Winkler,and son, Mason), Bonduel; great-grandchildren, Dayton, Bryce, Garrett, Macelyn and Noah Engel, Braden Gosdeck, Brady, Ashley, Emily and Riley Buch, and Dalton Craig.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; a great granddaughter, Kelsey Buch; three brothers, Rudy, Harold and Clarence Moede; a sister, Helen Sterr; six sisters-in-law, Mildred Seering, Gertrude LaVoy, Dorothy Engel, Hilda Engel, Erna Moede and Elizabeth Moede; five brothers-in-law, Herbert Engel, Ewald Engel, Glen Seering, Joseph LaVoy and Earl Sterr.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Friedens Lutheran Church, 405 E. State St., Bonduel, with the Rev. Virgil Hanson officiating. Family and friends may call on Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at Friedens Church Cemetery.
