Lucille M. Schwietzer

Lucille May Schwietzer, 96, of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Birch Hill Care Center with Sally and Bonnie at her side. Born on July 30, 1917, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Vida (Tilson) Teuke. As a child, Lucille and her family lived in Marshfield, where she attended school. She later moved to the Milwaukee area, where she worked various jobs including a cashier and bookkeeper for Borden’s Ice Cream. In April 1957, Lucille moved to the Shawano area. On Oct. 5, 1959, she was united in marriage to Evert W. Schwietzer in Waukegan, Ill. Lucille was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano, where she enjoyed church work and took pride in the many activities she was involved in, including directoress of Altar Guild, chairman of Naomi Circle and member of the church library committee. She was also a member of the Shawano VFW Auxiliary Post 2723, where she was past senior vice president, trustee and on the legislative committee. Lucille is survived by her goddaughter, Sally, and her husband, Tim Jones, and their their children, Grace, Emily and Matthew, all of Shawano; two sisters-in-law, Midge Miller, of Shawano, and Delores Stickney, of Appleton; special cousins, Mary and Ralph Hamann, of Colby, Dorothy Folz, of Rockford, Ill., Helen and Lawrence Fischer of Dix, Ill.; special niece, Bonnie, and her husband, Don Sperberg, and family; nephew, Jon Schwietzer; and other relatives and friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Evert, on Oct. 7, 1991; her parents, Arthur and Vida; a brother, Harold Teuke; her stepfather, John Zeuck; and her aunt, Gladys Teuke. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Gisele Berninghaus officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from noon until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
