Dorothy M. Erickson, 96, of Bowler, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at Birch Hill Care Center, Shawano.
The former Dorothy Melinda Denny was born in Oneida on April 24, 1918, to Alexander and Rachel (Hill) Denny. She was united in marriage on Jan. 5, 1935, to Carl H. Erickson at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Morris. For many years Dorothy did housekeeping and cleaning for various people around the Bowler area. She was also an incredible caregiver to so many. Dorothy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she actively served with the Women of Faith/Ladies Aide. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, growing flowers, watching the birds and visiting with friends.
Survivors include seven children, Jean Behnke, of Wittenberg, Roger (Barbara) Erickson, of Shawano, Reuben Erickson, of Bowler, Charles (Karen) Erickson, of Milwaukee, Diane (friend John) Cerveny, of Gresham, Karen (Donald) Wurth, of Gresham, and Ralph (friend Cindy) Erickson, of Bowler. There are two daughters-in-law, Pam Erickson of Shawano and Grace Erickson of Kenosha. There are 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen; three sons, Herbert, Gary and Andy; and the father of her children, Carl. She is also preceded by one brother, Alex (Mercy) Denny, and three sisters, Daisy (Pete) Sickles, Virginia (Ed) Heller and Pearl Greybuffalo.
The funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, town of Morris. Pastor John Hielsberg will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at church.
