Mary Mueller does many things for St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil.
She was born in Green Bay, graduating from the former St. Joseph’s Academy, Class of 1964. Mueller then began a 34-year career working full time and three years part time in the office of American Can, which became James River and is now Georgia Pacific.
She was married to Lorenz Froelich for 23 years before his death and is stepmother to his two daughters, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She has been married to Don Mueller for 24 years. They live in Bonduel.
Mueller enjoys cooking and walking. She is a poll worker for elections for the village.
Q Where do you volunteer?
A “I’ve been a member of St. Martin for 48 years. I’m very active in the Council of Catholic Women. Previously I was on the parish council and served as president for a couple of terms. Through the years we’ve seen so many changes. We’re a very welcoming parish. I feel like this is my extended family. ”
Q What do you do to help?
A “I’m a lector. I sing at funerals and help serve the meals. Occasionally I sing at Saturday Mass. I’m on the money counting team and on the Blue Ribbon Committee. We look at needs of the church. It’s a planning committee for future refurbishing and beautifying the interior of the church. I’m going to be a model for the style show. I’ve done that at prior shows. In May, I chaired a Mary service and had a presentation by Sister Marla Clercx, who is a pastoral leader from St. John’s Church in Gillett. She talked about the Virgin Mary at the special ladies event.”
Q Why do you volunteer?
A “Because all the years I worked I wasn’t able to do a lot for the church. Now I feel I need to give back. I’m a people person and I enjoy being with people. It’s a great opportunity to practice my faith and serve others. We have a group of very dedicated volunteers that support all aspects of the different programs we have going on.”
