Halloween meets Christmas

Inspired by their Las Vegas experience, James and Tracee Brown, of Shawano, decided to mix Halloween with classic Christmas decorations in their yard at 104 W. Stevens St. to create “Hillbilly Hell.” The Browns decorated their yard for the third time in the last four years after taking last year off due to a family event out of state. James Brown said they opted to put the scariest items in the backyard. “Some stuff would make people feel a little uncomfortable, and I don’t want to make anybody uncomfortable,” he said. “Ninety-nine percent of us like Christmas stuff, so I put the Christmas up front.” There will be also be actors playing characters such as Beetlejuice and Chucky, Tracee Brown said. Additionally, people will have an opportunity to contribute to the Shawano County Humane Society. “This year we wanted to give back to the community, so we decided to take donations for the humane society,” Tracee said. “They need it the most. They can never have too much cat food and dog food.”
