Elden Steege

Elden Steege, 88, was born March 23, 1926, in Marion to Samuel and Lola Steege. He was united in marriage to Nadine Giessel on June 10, 1950. Elden and Nadine ran a family farm for 35 years near Marion before working for the Marion school system as a custodian. He retired to Arkansas with his wife, where he spent a great many more years enjoying his retirement before moving back to Shawano recently. Elden and Nadine enjoyed traveling the U.S. in their spare time. Whether by car, train, or airplane they found new places to explore, from Florida to Alaska, Hawaii to New England, even Canada and Mexico. Elden enjoyed woodworking, fishing, farming and being around his family. He passed on peacefully from a short illness after being surrounded by the favorite of these interests, his family, on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Samuel and Lola Steege, and one brother, Warren (Beverly) Steege. He is survived by his loving wife, Nadine (Giessel) Steege; his brother, Charles (Lois) Steege; his sons, Clayton (Kathy) Steege and Curtis (Vicki) Steege; five grandchildren, Matthew Steege (Katelin Haglund), Taylor Steege, Corey Scheid (Lauren Turriff), Adam Steege and Farrah Denny Scheffler; two great­-grandchildren, Ava and Braelyn. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services for the family will be held in the spring.
