June Doris Drake, 95, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at Birch Hill Nursing Home.
June was born on June 15, 1919, at the family farm in Bartelme Township, Shawano County, the daughter of the late Herman and Ella (Giessel) Maas. On Sept. 16, 1939, she married Oscar Drake. She spent most of her life living on the North Shore of Shawano Lake. She enjoyed reading, card and board games, pencil games and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
June is survived by her children, Deanna (Joseph) Novotny, of Two Rivers, Darwin (Darlene) Drake, of Shawano, and Nancy Baker, of Shawano; her grandchildren, Pamela Drake, Derek (Courtney) Drake, John (Lisa) Novotny, Jesse Novotny, Damon (Jennifer) Baker and Lori Baker; her great-grandchildren, Sharidan, Gwen, J.J. and Natalie. She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Russ Eastburn; nephews, David Maas, Joel Maas, Larry Maas, Gary Maas, Lynn Maas, Terry Drake, Alan Drake, Raymond Drake and Dale Paiser; and nieces, Peggy Heinselman and Cheryl Stickels.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; in-laws, Ray and Edna Drake; granddaughter, Wendy Novotny; brothers, Lester Maas, Kennon Maas and Merlin Maas; sisters, Myrtle Maas and Margie Eastburn; sisters-in-law, Edna Rae Maas, Emma Maas, Ginger Drake and Hazel Drake; brothers-in-law, Ervin Drake and Victor Drake; nephews, Wynne Maas and James Drake; nieces, Denise Konshak and Judy Niec.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Allen Christensen officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at Swedberg Funeral Home from noon until the time of the service.
