Tea, crafts and sturgeon among library’s April programs

The Shawano City-County Library has planned several programs for adults in the coming weeks. The monthly DIY: Crafts & More program will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. April 27. April’s craft will be tissue paper pom poms. Participants experience making a quick and light spring decoration with only 10 sheets of tissue paper. Pre-registration is required. The Spring Tea will be held at 2 p.m. April 28. Jamie Beyer, from Shawano Lawn & Stone, will share gardening ideas over tea, sandwiches, scones and decadent muffins. Pre-registration is required. At 4 p.m. April 30, the library will host Kathleen Schmitt Kline, co-author of “People of the Sturgeon: Wisconsin’s Love Affair with an Ancient Fish.” Kline will discuss the evolution of the fish from near extinction through a communitywide effort to resurrect them. The library has several copies of the book available for checkout in print and on CD. The Shawano City-County Library consists of the main library at 128 S. Sawyer St., Shawano, branches in Birnamwood, Bonduel, Mattoon-Hutchins, Tigerton and Wittenberg, as well as a countywide delivery service.
