Mavis D. Marten, 69, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and Tigerton, died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born on Aug. 1, 1945, in Tigerton, the daughter of the late Lyle and Dolores (Griepentrog) Yonker.
On July 10, 1965, Mavis was united in marriage to Floyd C. Marten at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowler. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2004.
Mavis graduated from Bowler High School and went on to school at Frederick Community College in Maryland. She was an extraordinary artist and had a passion for art. Mavis also enjoyed gardening and the outdoors, but she especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Vikki (Andy Kuhn) Stansberry, Mayer, Arizona, Jody (John) Czapp, Amy (Greg) Richardson, all of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and Jeffrey (Natoshia) Marten, Frederick, Maryland; 13 grandchildren, Chelsea, Shelbi, Daniel, Matthew, Andrew, Nicole, Garrett, Morgan, Hailey, Hannah, Jenna, Heidi and Hunter; two great-grandsons, Carson and Wyatt; her siblings, David (Germaine “Cookie”) Yonker, Gloria Hass, Lyle (Cindy) Yonker, all of Tigerton, Steven (JoAnn) Yonker, Schofield, Ronald (Sandy) Yonker, Union Grove, and Connie Yonker, Tigerton; and four sisters-in-law, Janet (Douglas) Johnson, Bowler, Marcia (Bruce) Felts, Shawano, MaryAnn Marten, Plover, and Paula Yonker, Appleton. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mavis was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Yonker; one sister, Georgann Yonker; and three brothers-in-law, Lester Marten, Delbert Low Jr. and Dennis Hass.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Clifford Kessen will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, town of Almon, Shawano County. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg, and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
