Ordway J. Berndt

Ordway James “Ordie” Berndt, 85, of Arbor Vitae, died on Friday, Aug. 28, at Our Home K Care in Lac du Flambeau. Ordie was born on May 20, 1930, in Clintonville, the son of Henry and Sophie (nee Seehafer) Berndt. Ordie married Mae Evelyn Bartz on March 1, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by one son, James Berndt, of Arbor Vitae; one daughter, Julie (Brian) Krueger, of Sayner; his grandchildren, David and Daniel Berndt, Lisa (Ben) Trepanier, Bradley (Kelly Kitzman) Jacobson and Emily Krueger; and great-grandchildren, Ashley Berndt, Cole, Bryce and Maia Butzlaff and Kenzie Trepanier. He is further survived by his siblings, Ivan (Dorothy) Berndt, Pat Childs, Judy (Ken) Schultz and Mary Christianson. Ordie was preceded in death by his wife, Mae, and his parents and infant daughter and son. Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 31, at Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff. Burial with military honors took place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
