An initial appearance was held for Joshua J. Barke, 37, Oconto, on a felony charge of strangulation and suffocation domestic abuse, and on two misdemeanor charges Sept. 12 in Oconto. The court set a $5,000 cash bail. A continued initial appearance is Oct. 9.
Proceedings from Sept. 16
After plea negotiations, Jesse S. Kuranda, 31, Shawano, pleaded no contest to three of 10 counts of failure to support from October 2009 to February 2014 in Oconto. A $20,000 cash bond continues. A sentencing hearing is Nov. 7.

Janet L. Shafman, 29, Oconto, entered an Alford plea to child abuse-intentionally cause harm March 15 in Oconto. The court withheld its finding of guilty for 18 months. She pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges.
Douglas M. Vandehei, 18, Little Suamico, was sentenced to one year, six months incarceration and two years extended supervision on a felony charge of exposing a child to harmful material on Feb. 2 in Little Suamico. On one of seven misdemeanor charges, he was sentenced to three years probation. All other charges were read in and dismissed. The court will grant an expunction if he stays crime free for three years.

Margaret A. Kelly, 35, Oconto, was sentenced to three years incarceration and three years extended supervision for two charges of possession with intent to deliver schedule IV drugs on May 30, 2013, in Oconto. On a second count, sentencing was withheld for 12 years. Eleven other charges were read in and dismissed.
Samantha L. Smith, 18, Oconto, was sentenced to three years incarceration and three years extended supervision on two of 13 counts of possession with the intent to deliver drugs as a party to a crime May 30, 2013, in Oconto. If she stays crime free for three years, the court will grant an expunction. Eleven felony counts were dismissed by the courts, along with two counts of felony bail jumping and a misdemeanor charge.
Proceedings from Sept. 12
Michael R. Knight, 32, Oconto Falls, pleaded no contest to one count of felony bail jumping May 19 and two misdemeanor charges and a felony charge of strangulation and suffocation domestic abuse Feb. 28 in Oconto Falls. He was sentenced to six months jail for one count of bail jumping, and the other felony count was dismissed. For the two misdemeanor counts, he was sentenced to six months and 90 days in jail, with one year probation to run concurrent to the felony sentence.
Christopher L. Harris, 22, Oconto Falls, pleaded no contest to bail jumping June 5 in Oconto Falls and two counts of second degree sexual assault of a child June 1 and Aug. 1 in Oconto Falls. One count of second degree sexual assault of a child was dismissed, and one count was withheld for five years. He was sentenced to one year probation with sex offender assessment, counseling and treatment. He must follow all sex offender registry rules for five years and is to have no contact with the victim, the victim’s residence or family or any females under 18 with the exception of family. Bail jumping charges were dismissed.
A preliminary hearing was held for Christopher J. Robinson, 27, Waupun, on a felony charge of possession with the intent to deliver non-narcotics July 31 in Oconto. A $500 cash bond continues. An arraignment is Sept. 24.
A preliminary hearing was held for Paul J. Frewerd, 42, Oconto, on a felony charge of theft of a business setting-special facts Dec. 2, 2013, and May 31, 2014, in Oconto. A $2,500 signature bond continues. An arraignment is Sept. 30.
James E. Mcdonald, 24, Oconto, was sentenced to three years incarceration and three years extended supervision to run concurrently for the following charges: one count of strangulation and suffocation Sept. 8, 2013, in Oconto Falls, bail jumping-felony and intimidate victim with use of force. On two misdemeanor charges occurring Feb. 13, 2014, in Oconto Falls, Mcdonald was sentenced to nine months in jail to run concurrent. The court dismissed one felony count of strangulation and suffocation, one felony count of child abuse-intentionally cause harm and four misdemeanor charges.

Nicholas R. Block, 28, Oconto Falls, pleaded no contest to one count of possession with intent to deliver amphetamine and manufacture/deliver amphetamine from March 1 to May 28 in Oconto Falls. All other charges were read in. A $100,000 cash bond continues. Sentencing is Nov. 5.
Proceedings from Sept. 2
A waiver preliminary hearing was held for Douglas G. Winans, 23, Green Bay, on a misdemeanor and one felony charge of possession of THC second offense Feb. 21 in Pensaukee. A $200 cash bond continues.
A status conference, plea and sentencing hearing was held for Cody J. Meyer, 26, Oconto Falls. He pleaded no contest to felony charges of possession of THC, second subsequent offense, and a misdemeanor charge, which occurred Feb. 16 in Oconto Falls. He was sentenced to three years probation concurrent to Forest County. Court costs and fees totaling $518 are to be paid during probation. He is to maintain absolute sobriety and complete assessments and follow up. The misdemeanor charge was dismissed.
Morning Star J. Skenandore, 32, Milwaukee, pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor charge and one felony charge of possession of drugs, second subsequent offense, on May 8 in the town of Gillett. The court revoked her $6,000 cash bond. Sentencing is Oct. 15.
