Brazeau Emergency Services will hold an open house from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, for residents of the towns of Brazeau and parts of Bagley and Beaver that are in the Brazeau service area.
The open house, which commemorates National Fire Prevention Week, will be held at the Brazeau fire station, located at the corner of Parkway Road and County Road Z.
During National Fire Prevention Week, fire departments educate residents on the importance of having a fire safety plan and remind them to change their smoke alarm batteries. Most house fires occur during the night in the winter months. Wood burning systems are the major cause of house fires.
At the open house, there will be demonstrations of the vehicles and equipment of the fire department, ambulance service and dive team, and lessons on how to escape from a house fire and meet at a designated place. Smokey Bear will visit, and a lunch will be served.
Brazeau Emergency Services will give away two bicycles, first-aid kits and smoke alarms. Kids will receive handouts and a backpack. All events are free for residents in the Brazeau Emergency Services service area.
