Ronald “Ronnie” F. Magee, 78, Oconto Falls, died Sunday evening, Oct. 5, 2014, at St. Clare Memorial Hospital. He was born July 19, 1936, in Oconto Falls to Roland and Hazel (Couvillion) Magee.
Ronnie attended Oconto Falls public schools and graduated high school. On Nov. 1, 1958, he married Louise James in Gillett. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Menomonee Falls, where Ron worked for American Motors. In 1962, the couple purchased a gas station and auto repair business on Main Street in Oconto Falls, which remained open until Ronnie’s retirement in 2008.
Over the years, Ronnie became well-known in the area for his expertise in radiator repair work and developed a following of loyal customers and friends. Even in retirement, he was well-known for sitting out in front of his business, waving at passers-by and hosting his good friends over coffee and conversation.
At one time, Ronnie enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing pool and always an old-fashioned and good meal. Ronnie will be fondly remembered for his willingness to help others, a good sense of humor and his practical jokes.
Survivors are his three children, Gary Magee, Vickie (Mike) McDowell, all of Oconto Falls, and Dennis (Laura) Magee, Elderon; four grandchildren, Ashley and Michael McDowell, Jayden and Griffin Magee; three brothers, Leonard (Sis) Magee, Lena, Gerald Magee, Townsend, Wayne (BJ) Magee, Coleman; four sisters, Joyce (Clarence) Duffeck, Green Bay, Delores Pashek and friend Harold St. Louis, Lena, Lorna (Curt) Meadtke, Lakewood, and Doreen Dietrich, Waukesha; his in-laws, Charles James, Menasha, Irene (Gerald) Deneys, Coleman, Kathy (Tom) Paitl, Kelly Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Louise Magee, on July 15, 2007.
Visitation with the urn present will be held Friday, Oct. 10, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls from 3 p.m. until the time of service. A service of remembrance will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Harvey Jeffers officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
The Magee family would like to thank Dr. William Wittman, the staff of St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls and Unity Hospice for the care and concern shown Ronnie during their time together.
