Adult wellness workshops offered

Thanks to the support of several businesses, two research-proven workshops are making a difference for participants this fall. The Oconto County Commission on Aging and Woodland Village Nursing Centers/Home Health have partnered with Quality Living by Choice to provide Stepping On, a falls prevention workshop that builds confidence and reduces falls. Falls are costly both in dollars and in the loss of well-being and independence for older people. This workshop is being held weekly through Nov. 4 in Suring at the Woodland Village Home Health building. The second workshop offered by Quality Living by Choice, Living Well with Chronic Conditions, will be held weekly from Oct. 16 to Nov. 20 at the Aging and Disability Resource Center in Oconto Falls. This program has been proven to reduce hospitalizations and emergency room visits and to help participants live better quality lives while managing their chronic conditions. This is the first Living Well workshop in Oconto County, and the class reached capacity within seven days. The workshop is sponsored by Oconto County Commission on Aging, Sharpe Care, Peterson Ford/Mercury, Associated Bank, Senn Hometown Insurance, Witt’s Piggly Wiggly and United True Value Hardware, all of Oconto County. More workshops like these will be offered in various locations. For information, to co-sponsor a workshop or to have your name placed on a waiting list, call Carol at Quality Living by Choice, 920-373-1441.
