BOYS BASKETBALL Oconto 52 Oconto Falls 37 Leading by a single point, Oconto outscored the host Panthers 19-5 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win. Sawyer Koch led Oconto (8-4, 4-3 Packerland Conference) with 22 points. Michael Fifield paced Oconto Falls (2-9, 0-7 Bay Conference) with 12 points. Shawano 71 Oconto Falls 40 Oconto Falls remained winless in Bay Conference play with its home loss Friday. The Panthers trailed 40-11 entering halftime. Michael Fifield and Michael Manns each scored 10 points for Oconto Falls (2-9, 0-7 Bay). Braden Mueller scored 14 points for visiting Shawano (10-2, 5-2 Bay) and Jack Lacy added 10. Denmark 49 Oconto Falls 46 Oconto Falls rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit but could not catch visiting Denmark on Jan. 13. Michael Fifield scored a game-high 16 points for Oconto Falls (2-7, 0-7 Bay) and Tyler Hagermeier chipped in 11 points. Tanner Umentum led Denmark (4-7, 3-3 Bay) with 12 points. Gillett 59 STAA 50 Four of five Gillett players scored in double figures Thursday in the Tigers’ road win. Matt Peterson led Gillett (4-7, 2-4 Marinette and Oconto Conference) scorers with 16 points. Leeland Kahler, Dan Torres and Evan Bubolz each had 12 points. STAA (6-6, 3-5 M&O) was led by Varun Vasant with 12 points. Suring 51 Lena 42 Three players scored in double figures in Suring’s home win Jan. 13. Suring (4-7, 3-4 Marinette & Oconto Conference) outscored the Wildcats 32-20 after halftime. Eagles freshman Ryan Mahoney led Suring’s six scorers with 12 points. Chris Geniesse added 11 and John Christensen scored 10. Dalton Anderson scored a game-high 16 points for Lena (4-6, 2-6 M&O). GIRLS BASKETBALL Gillett 49 Suring 40 Breanna Tienor’s 17 points were not enough as Suring lost the Marinette & Oconto Conference battle at Gillett on Friday. Gillett (9-4, 8-1 Marinette & Oconto Conference) entered halftime clinging to a 28-26 lead. Rebecca Wolfe scored a team-high 12 points for Gillett, and Taylor Kohls chipped in 11. MacKenzi LaMarre scored 10 points for Suring (5-8, 4-5 M&O). Denmark 48 Oconto Falls 44 Oconto Falls senior Elizabeth Manns scored 18 points in the Panthers’ Bay Conference loss Jan. 13 at Denmark. Oconto Falls led 27-18 at halftime, but could not keep pace with the Vikings in the second half. Junior Bailey Wolf added 10 points for Oconto Falls (5-6, 3-4 Bay). Jennifer Nehls was the leading scorer for Denmark (7-4, 4-2 Bay) with 17 points.
